Custom-built, eco-friendly, tiny house nestled among kōwhai, plum, maple & feijoa trees on one of Taupō’s township’s largest sections (Richmond Heights suburb – 7 minute drive to CBD). Interior design is Scandinavian – light and airy. Recently built (2018), the double-glazing, insulation & heat pump will keep you toasty warm in winter & cool in summer. Screens (unusual in Aotearoa) allow you to catch an evening breeze without uninvited insects/mammals sneaking in!
A tiny house, Kōwhai Korner is ideal for single or duo travelers with queen bed in loft but can also accommodate families or small groups with additional bed(s) of your choice – queen or single air mattress, porta-cot, etc. We recommend viewing listing photos and accompanying descriptions, which accurately portray the space, before booking.
We designed and build our tiny house as a te whare āio – a peaceful, calm, restorative place for visiting whānau (family) and friends. Located down a shared drive atop a quiet cul-de-sac, Kōwhai Korner provides guests with the opportunity to wake up to tuis, bellbirds and korero while still having easy access to the Botanical Gardens (5 minute walk), lake (15 minute walk/2 minute drive) and the CBD (45 minute walk/7 minute drive).
Our whānau has committed to living more simply and sustainably and appreciate your cooperation in helping minimise human impact on our local environment. To help move our whānau toward zero waste, we are now purchasing the majority of our home and tiny house supplies through Bin Inn and The Source. Glass milk and muesli containers, Boomerang bags, resuable Taupō one cup and takeaway containers, composting and recycling are all provided to help guests enjoy, care for, and make the most of Kōwhai Korner and beautiful Lake Taupō region.
