Each year Auckland’s construction waste is responsible for half of our landfill supply, making up 600,000 tonnes per year. As the population grows, this all-time high amount of waste, continues to rise.
At Re Fab Cabins, we are helping to make change one cabin at a time.
When we build our upcycled cabins, we stop landfill-bound products and turn them into something beautiful, and ecologically sound.
A Re Fab Cabin is the best addition for your backyard and the environment.
Our Mission: We are committed to changing the way our Construction Industry deals with waste.
We are dedicated to transforming Auckland’s construction waste and housing crisis into affordable housing solutions.
— Andrew Sorenson, Director of Re Fab Cabins
At Re Fab Cabins, we believe in waste not want not and are driven by green objectives. We care about our planet, our community and the people we work with. On top of building upcycled cabins and tiny homes, we are also taking initiatives within the community.
Every year Auckland’s construction waste is responsible for half of landfill supply, up to 600,000 tonnes per year. As the population grows, this continues to rise. Every cabin we build diverts those materials from landfill and highlights their salvageable value. Our long-term goal is to work with local council laws to address the waste problem and set up the infrastructure to manage and upcycle the waste flow. With government support, we hope to create a closed loop system.
ReFab Cabins has adopted green objectives- meaning we place both the planet’s and our teams’ welfare at the core of all of our decision making.
We have partnered with Habitat for Humanity to donate one cabin, for every 10 that we sell.
Our current focus is to convert our showroom lot into a green, thriving space where our local community can gather. We plan to host Eco Markets and other events in the hopes of raising awareness and having a positive impact in our local area.
