Ruru Tiny Homes

Ruru Building Ltd was established 2020 shortly after the implications of COVID19 wiped out the former family business of accommodation for overseas tourists. As a new, family owned start-up, four dedicated people decided to go their own path in the building industry. Knowing about affordable housing being an issue, and recognising the increasing building costs, but also the demand for flexible, warm, comfortable, high-end homes and a realistic budget we decided to ‘do it our way’ and started setting up a tiny home business.

From the ideas, the design, the materials, and tradesmen – everything is sourced in NZ and most of it locally in Motueka, Nelson Bays. We pretty much greet every nail going into our houses personally.

Shortly after the final design for the Ruru Tiny Home was established and materials researched and sourced, with a professional builder onboard and heaps of capable, keen, and dedicated hands around – the first lot of tiny homes came up nice and fast.

MICHAEL – Professional builder and real Kiwi bloke with 25+ years experience in the NZ building industry, wise friend, mentor to all of us and conveniently he’s also our direct neighbour

DANIEL – Professional All-round Talent, autodidact, hammerhand, planner, logical brain, and inventor

FRAN – Marketing & Sales Manager, courier driver, coffee maker, researcher, accountant, and admin

YASMIN – Apprentice in building with a future career in electrical services

Together, we plan, build and laugh, exchange ideas, make changes, get creative and have a good time.
